System Design & Specification Services

Cybertrol offers complete electrical, process control and information system design and CAD services. We are committed to high quality in every aspect of our designs from adhering to national codes and standards to the overall aesthetics of a system.

Cybertrol designs incorporate the entire control and information system — From a single control station to entire facilities. Our systems are designed to fit current needs with thought given to future expansion and scalability.

It starts on the front end of projects with these conceptual design services:

  • Defining high level system requirements including the control and information system architecture
  • Developing User and Functional Requirements Specifications
  • Establishing standards for Project/Plant
  • Budgeting Projects
  • Existing Site Studies/Review of Operations

System Architecture

Determining system architecture requires proactive thought to determine what is best for the facility. We take into account existing systems and discuss options to determine the best path forward. Cybertrol has the in depth experience in the latest technologies for control and information systems which enables us to recommend the best solutions.

We define system architecture in these areas:

  • PLC and HMI Hardware and Software Platforms
  • Software Components
    • Data Acquisition and Reporting
    • User Interfaces
    • Databases
    • Batch Control
    • Scheduling
    • Lot Tracking
  • Hardware Specifications
    • HMI Computers, Servers, and Hardware Redundancy
    • Ethernet Network and Device-Level Network Components
    • Drives, MCC's, Panel Components, and Field Instrumentation
    • Cables, Connectors, and Wire
  • Communications Networks
    • Information System Communications
    • Device-Level Networks
    • PLC and HMI Communications
    • Redundancy

Documentation

Functional Requirements Specification (FRS)
We take whatever up-front definition we get from our customers and drill into the details of each portion of the operation to develop an extremely detailed system definition — the FRS. We plug our experience into this document. The result is a document that is submitted and reviewed which establishes an excellent starting point for detailed design.

System Operation Manual
These documents detail how to run the system from the operator's perspective. Includes detailed descriptions of functionality including required operator actions and user interface screen snapshots.

Engineering Reference Manual information:

  • Programming Standards
  • Windows and HMI Security
  • Network Addressing and Messaging
  • Detailed Sequences (PIN Charts), State Diagrams or Flowcharts

Electrical Installation Specifications

We have the capability to prepare detailed electrical installation specifications which are used for bid packages and throughout installation by the electrical contractor to make for a more efficient, better planned install.

  • Installation Scope of Work and Schedule
  • Codes and Standards
  • Panel Connection Layouts
  • Panel Data Sheets — Includes To/From locations, reference drawings, signal Type, wire color code wire number, and Description.
  • Plan View and Network Location Drawings
  • Low Voltage Power Distribution Diagram
  • Motor List and Motor Locations
